Over the long run it behaves as a contrarian signal: extreme fear has historically aligned with market bottoms and extreme greed with local tops. In choppy markets it mostly reflects recent price action, so it works best alongside price, funding, and open interest.
What do the score ranges mean?
0 to 24 is Extreme Fear, 25 to 44 is Fear, 45 to 54 is Neutral, 55 to 74 is Greed, and 75 to 100 is Extreme Greed.
